What Heilung captured at Castlefest in 2017 is not simply a concert recording — it is a full-blown ritual, an invocation that drags you out of the modern world and plants you somewhere far older, somewhere primal. The Danish collective call their colossal stage production "amplified history," and once you hear the throat-singing, the bone drums, the reconstructed Iron Age instruments and the hypnotic chants, that phrase stops sounding like marketing and starts sounding like the only honest description possible. This is music that bypasses the head entirely and goes straight for the spine.

The show flows like a ceremony rather than a setlist, each piece bleeding into the next, from the shivering stillness of the opening ceremony through the thunderous war chants of Krigsgaldr and Hakkerskaldyr, all the way to the ecstatic release of Hamrer Hippyer. The crowd isn't an audience so much as a congregation, and you can feel it in every breath. It is rare for a live document to carry this much weight, this much genuine awe. Heilung do not perform their music so much as they let it consume them, and by the end, it has consumed you too.
