Background information about 'Picenum'

Picenum returns with Hesperia, a record that feels like wandering through frozen medieval hills under a blood-red sky. This is true Marchigian black metal at its most atmospheric and historically obsessed - the natural follow-up to Fra Li Monti Sibillini, expanding that concept across the entire Marche region of Italy. The title itself refers to the ancient name for a vast portion of this land, and the music carries that weight with reverence and menace in equal measure.

Set mostly in the late Middle Ages and the dawn of the Renaissance, Hesperia shines a cold light on the darker corners of that era, seen through the darkness of the region and the places where the band was born. The tracks read like chapters from a forgotten chronicle - from Ver Sacrum: Picus Martius Picenos In Picenum Ducit to the sprawling two-act sagas of Il Sentiero Delle Fate and Il Paradiso Della Regina Sibilla. This is winter metal in the truest sense: frostbitten tremolo picking, cavernous atmosphere, and that unmistakable Italian flair for dramatic storytelling woven into every riff.
