When Finnish forest dwellers Hexvessel conjured up "No Holier Temple" back in 2012, they unleashed something truly extraordinary upon the world. This isn't just another folk album – it's a mystical journey through the deep woods of psychedelic doom-folk that grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go. From the opening notes of "Heaven and Earth Magic", you're transported into Mat McNerney's otherworldly vision, where acoustic guitars dance with electric distortion and haunting violins weave spells that would make even the Velvet Underground jealous.

The album marks a bold evolution from their debut, fusing 70s folk sensibilities with progressive rock elements that channel everything from King Crimson's complexity to Black Sabbath's weight. McNerney's vocals have matured into something genuinely captivating – part Burke Shelley, part young Jon Anderson, with a storytelling prowess that rivals Paul Simon. Tracks like "Wilderness Is!" and "Sacred Marriage" showcase the band's ability to build atmospheric tension before exploding into psychedelic freakouts that feel both ancient and futuristic. Their cover of Ultimate Spinach's "Your Head Is Reeling" is delivered with such religious fervor, it becomes entirely their own.
