Background information about 'Bat Salad'
High On Fire unleashes their ferocious power with "Bat Salad", a crushing EP that showcases the Oakland metal titans at their most uncompromising. This blistering collection opens with the title track "Bat Salad", a relentless assault of Matt Pike's signature crushing riffs and Des Kensel's thunderous percussion that will leave listeners gasping for air. The band's trademark blend of sludge, doom, and thrash creates an atmosphere so thick you could cut it with a battle axe.
The real treasures here are the covers that follow – High On Fire puts their own devastating spin on Celtic Frost's "Into The Crypts of Rays" and Bad Brains' "Don't Bother Me". These aren't just faithful reproductions; they're complete reimaginings that filter classic tracks through High On Fire's apocalyptic lens. Pike's vocals growl with primal intensity while the rhythm section pounds like hammers on anvils. The production captures every nuance of their crushing sound, from the feedback-drenched guitar tones to the bone-rattling low end that makes your speakers beg for mercy.
