Background information about 'Year Of The Cobra'

In their self-titled third album, "Year of the Cobra," the Seattle-based duo crafts an audacious soundscape that defies traditional heavy metal norms. Foregoing guitars, Amy Tung Barrysmith and Jon Barrysmith lean into a powerhouse combination of bass and drums, channeling their unique brand of doom metal and psychedelic sludge. Drawing from their previous works, "...in the Shadows Below" (2016) and "Ash and Dust" (2019), this album sees the band refining their songwriting to create bold, memorable melodies that maintain weighty undertones. Amy's compelling vocal range, coupled with Jon's deft drumming, delivers an immersive auditory experience that's as haunting as it is captivating. Founded in 2015, "Year of the Cobra" has carved out a niche in the heavy music scene with its distinctive blend of melancholic doom and swirling psychedelia. The album stands as a testament to their evolution, showcasing their ability to weave catchy rock moments into atmospheric heaviness. With "Year of the Cobra," the band not only cements its place in modern metal but also propels itself towards new artistic horizons.
