Background information about 'Year Of The Cobra'
"Year of the Cobra" marks the band's third studio album, asserting their sound with even greater precision than its predecessors. Emerging from Seattle's thriving music scene, Year of the Cobra has carved a niche by eschewing traditional guitar leads in favor of Amy Tung Barrysmith's bass-driven melodies. This release sees the duo honing their songcraft to perfection, blending heavy doom metal riffs with psychedelic sludge undertones. Amy's commanding vocals paired with Jon Barrysmith's dynamic drumming create a sonic landscape that's both haunting and hypnotic. From the pulsating rhythms of "Full Sails" to the introspective "The Darkness," this album is an evolution of their unique style, intertwining melancholic doom with vibrant rock elements. It stands as a testament to their growth, striking a balance between weighty themes and catchy hooks that linger long after the final note fades.
