Background information about 'Lachrymose Monuments Of Obscuration'
Standing tall on the precipice of their third decade, Hooded Menace deliver their seventh opus with the crushing weight of tombstones and the ethereal beauty of ancient crypts. "Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration" isn't just another death-doom release – it's a masterful evolution that proves these Finnish masters refuse to be buried in their own legacy. While their cultish obsession with classic horror cinema remains intact, this album showcases a band unafraid to shatter the mold they helped create.
The Knights Templar still patrol these haunted corridors, with "Pale Masquerade" summoning Amando de Ossorio's flesh-eating nightmares through bone-crushing chugs and tomb-reeking death growls. But here's where things get deliciously twisted – Hooded Menace inject unexpected elements that'll make your jaw drop. The stunning transformation of "Save a Prayer" into a blood-soaked death-doom anthem is pure genius, while the haunting cello moans beneath "Portrait Without a Face" add layers of ghostly atmosphere that'll send chills down your spine. The '80s heavy metal influence burns brighter than ever, with galloping drums and neon-dripping leads that transport you straight into a horror movie soundtrack.
