The record kicks off with "Triumph," and from the very first seconds, Abbath and co. make it abundantly clear they're not here to mess around. The guitar work is simply staggering — Demonaz's riffs, even though he wasn't playing on the album, cut through like an Arctic gale, layer upon layer of icy tremolo picking and thunderous power-chord progressions that feel carved from granite. Horgh's drumming is a masterclass in controlled chaos, blast beats that actually have groove and swing to them, pushing each track forward with an almost primal momentum. And then there's Abbath's vocal performance — that signature croak, part raven, part frost giant, spitting out lyrics of darkness, winter, and the mighty realm of Blashyrkh with such conviction you can practically feel the temperature drop. Tracks like "Against the Tide (In the Arctic World)" and "The Darkness That Embrace Me" are stone-cold classics, the kind of songs that make you want to strap on corpse paint and march into a snowstorm.
