Background information about 'Marodeur'
Karg's "Marodeur" is an expedition into the recesses of human emotion, traversing through vast soundscapes that marry the raw intensity of Atmospheric Black Metal with the ethereal essence of Post Rock. The album paints a sonic mural, adorned with strokes of Grunge, Shoegaze, and Post Punk influences. This confluence creates a stormy yet introspective ambiance that reveals itself more profoundly with each listen.
Lyrically, Karg delves deep into melancholia and existential musings. Frontman Michael J.J. Kogler crafts narratives that explore themes such as broken relationships, lost love, estrangement, and the darker corridors of the mind including drug abuse and suicidal thoughts. The lyrics hold equal weight to the music and are penned in the dialect native to the Tennen Mountains—a nod to Kogler's roots and an authentic reflection of his emotional landscape.
