Background information about 'Reclaim'
Norwegian black metal titans Keep of Kalessin deliver a crushing statement with "Reclaim", an album that showcases the band's evolution while staying true to their extreme metal roots. The record opens with the atmospheric "Traveller", setting a dark and foreboding tone before unleashing the full fury of tracks like "IX" and "Come Damnation". The production strikes a perfect balance between clarity and aggression, allowing every blast beat and tremolo-picked riff to cut through with surgical precision. Obsidian C.'s vocals range from guttural growls to soaring clean passages, demonstrating remarkable versatility throughout the album's runtime.
What makes this release particularly special is the inclusion of live versions of both "Come Damnation" and the title track "Reclaim", capturing the band's electrifying stage presence and raw energy. These live cuts serve as a perfect complement to the studio material, showing how these compositions translate in a concert setting. The album's centerpiece, "Obliterator", stands as one of the band's most memorable compositions, featuring intricate guitar work and dynamic shifts that keep listeners on edge from start to finish.
