Background information about 'Diabolical Desecration'

There is a very particular kind of joy in hearing a band that simply refuses to be polite, and "Diabolical Desecration" is exactly that record. Bewitched come out of the Swedish tradition of blackened, thrashing metal that treats the riff as a blunt instrument and the atmosphere as something you can practically smell — sulphur, sweat, cheap candles burning down to nothing. What makes this one stick is the swing underneath all the nastiness. The guitars don't just tremolo into the void; they strut, they sneer, they leave space for a bassline that actually walks. It's the sound of a band who grew up on the first wave, on Venom and Bathory and the whole messy, glorious early eighties underground, and who still play like the tape is rolling and nobody is going to tell them to stop.

The production keeps things raw without turning into a lo-fi costume party — you can hear fingers on strings, the snap of the snare, the vocalist spitting out lines like he's got a grudge he's been carrying since 1987. Tracks shift gears constantly, from full-throttle gallop to a crawling, doom-tinged stomp, and the whole thing clocks in with the kind of energy that makes you want to flip the record and start again immediately. This is not music for background listening; it demands your attention and rewards it with hooks buried under the filth. If you've been waiting for a modern record that remembers why this stuff was dangerous in the first place, here it is, pressed on a swirling galaxy vinyl that looks exactly as unhinged as it sounds.
