There is a moment on "Puritan Masochism" where the low end simply swallows the room, and you realise Konvent are not asking for your attention — they are taking it. The Copenhagen four-piece deal in a doom that is less about nostalgia for the genre's cathedral-sized riffs and more about pure, grinding weight. Everything here is tuned down, slowed to a crawl, and then hit with a force that feels physical rather than merely loud.

What sets this record apart is the voice. There is no clean singing, no gothic croon, no escape hatch — just a raw, throat-shredding delivery that sits somewhere between a roar and a confession, buried deep in the mix where it belongs. Guitars move like tectonic plates, riffs repeat until they hypnotise, and the rhythm section locks into grooves that are somehow both funereal and strangely catchy. Tracks like the title cut and the two-part "Ropes" closer stretch tension until it snaps, and the payoff is enormous.

This is doom for people who like their music ugly, honest and heavy as concrete.
