Background information about 'Death In The Family'

Living Weapon don't waste a second. "Death In The Family" runs barely 23 minutes, and every one of them lands like a fist to the sternum. This is metalcore stripped down to its nervous system — no padding, no filler, no polite intros that let you settle in. The record opens with "The Leaving Process", a statement of intent that frames existence as connection rather than permanence: matter flickering into being, briefly aware of itself, then gone. Heavy stuff, and the band plays it like they mean it.

What makes this one special is how it was made. For the first time, Living Weapon tracked a full album on their own, with Jeremy Martin handling recording, production and engineering through the autumn of 2025 into spring 2026. Taylor Young (The Pit Recording Studio) mixed it, Nick Townsend mastered, and you can hear the payoff in the grit — the guitars scrape and grind, the low end has real weight, and the whole thing breathes like a live take rather than a polished studio product. Tracks like "Metastasis" and "Dead Like You" twist and convulse, while "Parthenogenesis" and the brilliantly titled "Interspecies Quality Assessment" show a band thinking harder than most of their peers. It ends open, unresolved, the universe shrugging at all of it. Bleak, sure — but thrillingly so.
