Background information about 'DMNSTRTN'
Long Distance Calling delivers a masterclass in atmospheric progressive rock with "Dmnstrtn", an EP that showcases the German quartet's ability to craft cinematic soundscapes that feel both intimate and expansive. The four tracks here demonstrate the band's evolution from their post-rock roots into more diverse territory, blending heavy progressive elements with their signature melodic sensibilities. "Fire In The Mountain" opens with driving rhythms and soaring guitar work, while "The Metulsky Curse" explores darker, more experimental textures that highlight the band's growing confidence in pushing boundaries.
The EP's second half maintains this momentum with "Red Bug vs Black Bird" offering intricate instrumental passages that build to powerful crescendos, and "The Very Last Day" providing a contemplative conclusion that lingers long after the final notes fade. Long Distance Calling has created something special here - a collection that works both as individual pieces and as a cohesive journey through their evolving sound. The production is crisp and allows every instrument to breathe, creating space for the subtle details that make repeated listening so rewarding.
