In 2001, Malédiction released their debut album "Condamnés" under Brennus Music, a record that was met with enthusiasm from fans and media alike. Despite the positive feedback, the traditional Heavy Metal scene was facing challenges at the dawn of the new millennium, leading to the band's dissolution after their second album, "Esclave Du Vice," in 2004. Formed in Laon, Northern France, in 1997 by Sylvain Mollard (guitar/vocals), Mathieu Poulain (guitar), Olivier Messaoui (bass), and Nicolas Mollard (drums), Malédiction initially performed covers of bands like Megadeth and Iron Maiden before focusing on original material sung in French. Their early demo, recorded swiftly during a two-day session, laid the groundwork for what would become "Condamnés," featuring songs like "Le Fils De Satan" and "Le Masque De Fer," characterized by mid-tempo heavy metal riffs and melodic vocals reminiscent of Blasphème and Sortilège.

High Roller Records now proudly presents this ultimate edition of an overlooked gem from the French metal scene. Tracks such as "Prince Des Ténèbres" and "L'Ange Noir" showcase their prowess in creating galloping riffs and catchy melodies. With Sylvain Mollard's melodic vocal style and Mathieu Poulain's lead guitar echoing influences like Randy Rhoads, this album stands alongside works by bands such as Sortilège and Killers. Despite their potential, Malédiction disbanded due to lack of support; however, this reissue aims to revive interest in their potent contribution to heavy metal.
