Background information about 'Plague Angel'

There are albums that merely scratch the surface of black metal's dark underbelly, and then there's Plague Angel – a record that digs the grave, climbs in, and pulls the dirt over itself. MARDUK have never been a band for the faint-hearted, and with this 2004 offering, they delivered a relentless, almost surgical strike of blasphemous aggression that still stands tall among their discography.

From the opening artillery of "The Hangman Of Prague," it's clear that this is MARDUK at their most focused. Mortuus, taking over vocal duties for the first time on a full-length, brings a rasping, almost ritualistic delivery that perfectly complements the band's signature tremolo-picked fury. Tracks like "Throne Of Rats" and "Seven Angels, Seven Trumpets" are pure adrenaline – blastbeats, razor-sharp riffs, and that unmistakable Swedish black metal production that feels both raw and punchy. But Plague Angel isn't just about speed. "Life's Emblem" and the monstrous "Perish In Flames" show a band unafraid to stretch out, building atmosphere before unleashing hell. The closing one-two punch of "Everything Bleeds" and the epic "Blutrache" leaves you battered, breathless, and begging for more. This is MARDUK at their most vital – a plague you'll welcome.
