Background information about 'Behind The Realms Of The Dark'
Raw Swedish metal history comes alive with Merciless' legendary early recordings! "Behind The Realms Of The Dark" compiles the band's crucial 1987-1988 demos that laid the groundwork for their groundbreaking 1990 debut "The Awakening" – the very first release on Euronymous' infamous Deathlike Silence Productions. These recordings capture Merciless at their most primal and ferocious, showcasing the unbridled energy that would help define the Swedish extreme metal scene.
What these demos might lack in studio polish, they more than compensate for with sheer intensity and youthful aggression. Alongside pioneers like Obscurity and Morbid, Merciless carved the path that countless Swedish black and death metal bands would follow. The careful restoration and remastering by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony brings new life to these historical gems while preserving their essential rawness. This isn't just a collection – it's a time capsule of Swedish metal's most formative period.
