Background information about 'The Beginning'
Here's a release that'll make any metalhead's heart race faster than King Diamond's falsetto! Mercyful Fate's "The Beginning" stands as one of the most crucial compilations in heavy metal history, capturing the Danish legends during their most raw and uncompromising period. Originally unleashed through Roadrunner Records in 1987, this collection gathers the band's earliest and rarest material like precious occult artifacts – the legendary "Nuns Have No Fun" EP, BBC sessions that crackle with dark energy, and alternate versions of tracks from their groundbreaking "Melissa" album.
What makes this compilation absolutely essential is how it showcases Mercyful Fate before their 1985 split, when their occult-infused metal was still dripping with that primal, unpolished power that would later influence an entire generation of black metal pioneers. Every track here pulses with the dark theatricality and razor-sharp riffing that made them legends, proving why bands from Cradle Of Filth to Metallica still bow down to their unholy throne.
