Background information about 'Novum Initium'
Masterplan delivers a thunderous statement with "Novum Initium", their third studio offering that showcases the German power metal titans at their most refined and explosive. This album represents a fresh beginning for the band, with the Latin title translating to "new beginning" – and what a beginning it is! From the orchestral intro "Per Aspera Ad Astra" to the epic 10-minute title track finale, every moment crackles with the kind of energy that makes you want to raise your fist and sing along.
The songwriting here is absolutely stellar, with tracks like "The Game" and "Keep Your Dream Alive" showcasing the band's ability to blend crushing riffs with soaring melodies that stick in your head for days. "Black Night Of Magic" brings that classic European power metal mysticism, while "Betrayal" hits with emotional depth that goes beyond the typical genre fare. The production is crisp and powerful, allowing every guitar harmony and thunderous drum fill to shine through with crystal clarity. This is power metal done right – no filler, just pure metallic excellence from start to finish.
