Background information about 'Curious Volume'
Pentagram delivers a crushing masterpiece with "Curious Volume", an album that stands as a monumental testament to the enduring power of doom metal. This isn't just another release – it's a sonic journey through the darkest corridors of heavy music, where every riff carries the weight of decades of experience and every vocal line drips with authentic menace. The Virginia legends have crafted something truly special here, blending their signature crushing heaviness with moments of surprising melodic depth.
The album opens with the devastating "Lay Down And Die" and never lets up, taking listeners through a labyrinth of heavy grooves and haunting atmospheres. Tracks like "The Tempter Push" and "Dead Bury Dead" showcase the band's ability to create music that's both brutally heavy and surprisingly accessible. Bobby Liebling's vocals are in top form, delivering each line with the conviction of a man who's lived every word he sings. The production perfectly captures the band's raw energy while maintaining enough clarity to let every crushing detail shine through.
