Some records just refuse to behave, and Pungent Stench's "Dirty Rhymes and Psychotronic Beats" is the proudest offender of them all. Originally landing between the 1991 slab "Been Caught Buttering" and the 1994 beast "Club Mondo Bizarre – For Members Only", this EP was never meant to be a tidy stopgap. It is a deliberate detour, a grimy little side road where the Austrian crew let their weirdest impulses run the show. And now it gets the remaster treatment it always deserved, sounding filthier, fatter and more gloriously wrong than ever.

What makes this one such a joy is how unapologetically it breaks its own rules. The band tears through a set of covers — Mentors among them — and reworks older material, yet every note still carries that unmistakable Pungent signature: sludgy, sarcastic, and grinning through the gristle. Then there is the notorious Tekkno remix of "Blood, Pus and Gastric Juice", a track that gleefully drags their own classic through a dancefloor and leaves it there, twitching. Add two brand-new songs to the pile and you have a release that feels less like a footnote and more like a secret handshake for the faithful.

It is crude, it is clever, and it is a hell of a lot of fun. For anyone who wondered how the long wait between those two albums was supposed to be survived, this is the answer — remastered, repackaged, and ready to offend all over again.
