"Villains" is the seventh studio album from Queens Of The Stone Age, and it finds Josh Homme and company doing something they have never quite done before - letting an outside producer truly shake up their world. Enter Mark Ronson, the man behind some of the biggest pop records of the last two decades, who brings a newfound sense of groove and polish to the QOTSA sound without ever dulling its edge. The result is an album that swings, struts and slithers with a confidence that feels both fresh and unmistakably them.

From the opening swagger of "Feet Don't Fail Me" to the razor-sharp riffage of "The Way You Used To Do" and the menacing crawl of "Head Like A Haunted House", this record wastes no time making its intentions clear. Mixed by the legendary Alan Moulder, the production is crisp, punchy and danceable in a way that previous QOTSA records never quite were, yet the signature Homme wit and darkness still lurk beneath every hook. Tracks like "Fortress" and "Villains Of Circumstance" show a more reflective side, proving that even when the band leans into pop sensibilities, they never lose their heavy heart. This is Queens Of The Stone Age at their most adventurous, and it is a blast from start to finish.
