Background information about 'Against'

"Against" is the sound of a band planting its boots in the dirt and refusing to move. RAM have always traded in that very specific Swedish brand of heavy metal — the kind built on galloping riffs, a rhythm section that hits like a hammer on an anvil, and a singer who sounds like he's been gargling gravel and loving every second of it. This record takes that formula and sharpens it until it cuts. The guitars are lean and mean, the solos are pure steel, and the choruses arrive with the kind of swagger that makes you want to punch the air in a crowded room.

What makes "Against" such a joy is how unapologetically it wears its influences. There's classic heavy metal in the DNA, a bit of the old-school grit that made the early eighties so exciting, and a relentless forward drive that never once lets the energy sag. Every track feels like it was written to be played live, loud, with a beer in one hand and a fist in the other. The production keeps things raw enough to breathe but clear enough to hear every detail — the little harmonic flourishes, the double-kick thunder, the way the bass locks in with the drums and simply refuses to let go. It's the sort of album that reminds you why you fell in love with this music in the first place: no gimmicks, no filler, just honest, heavy, glorious metal played by people who mean it.
