Background information about 'Endless Sea of Loss / Bloodline'

Twenty years is a long time to sit with a record, and "Endless Sea of Loss" has clearly been sitting with Resurrected too. This remastered anniversary edition drags the 2006 album back into the light, and what a gloriously ugly, thrilling thing it is. The backstory alone reads like a band rebuilding itself mid-session: Stefan "Oppa" Bays handing the bass to his younger brother Ben, founding member Michael "Fischi" Scholz stepping away, and drummer Adriano Ricci — a man with Night In Gales, Grind Inc. and SubOrbital on his CV — sliding in behind the kit to hold the whole thing together. Hazim Fouad came aboard soon after, locking in alongside guitarist Thomas Granzow and vocalist Carsten Scholz. Recorded by Jörg Uken at Soundlodge and Thomas Granzow at Catacomb, it carries that raw, roomy, no-nonsense heaviness that only a certain era of German death metal could produce.

And then there's the remaster. Peter "Pluto" Neuber, who mastered the original two decades ago, went back in and gave it another pass — and you can feel the difference. The riffs hit with more bite, the low end has real weight, and nothing has been polished into sterility. It still sounds like a band playing loud in a small room, which is exactly the point. The real treat, though, is the bonus material: the complete recordings of the first Resurrected 7", "Bloodline", from 1997, tacked on as a filthy little history lesson. Hearing the early, rawer incarnation next to the fuller 2006 sound is a genuine thrill for anyone who cares about where this music came from. Twenty years on, this thing still lands like a fist.
