Background information about 'Lillie: F-65'
Saint Vitus delivers a crushing monument to doom with "Lillie: F-65", their first studio album in seventeen years that proves the masters of misery haven't lost a single ounce of their devastating power. This is doom metal in its purest, most uncompromising form – seven tracks of glacial riffs, thunderous rhythms, and Scott Reagers' tortured vocals that sound like they're rising from the depths of hell itself. The album opens with "Let Them Fall", a ten-minute epic that sets the tone with its hypnotic, crawling tempo and soul-crushing heaviness that could level buildings.
The production captures every nuance of their colossal sound, from Dave Chandler's signature guitar tone that drips with distortion to the rhythm section's earth-shaking foundation. Tracks like "Blessed Night" and "Dependence" showcase the band's ability to create atmosphere through sheer sonic weight, while "Withdrawal" closes the album with a harrowing journey through addiction and despair. This isn't just a comeback – it's a masterclass in how doom metal should sound, proving that Saint Vitus remains the undisputed kings of slow, heavy, and utterly devastating music.
