Background information about 'Inception - 1988 Demos'

When Sanctuary unleashed their "Inception - 1988 Demos" upon the world, they were already showing glimpses of the progressive metal mastery that would define their career. This collection captures the Seattle band in their formative years, just before they would go on to influence countless metal acts throughout the late 80s and early 90s. The raw energy and technical prowess displayed on tracks like "Dream Of The Incubus" and "Soldiers Of Steel" demonstrate why Warrel Dane's soaring vocals and Lenny Rutledge's intricate guitar work became legendary within metal circles.

The demo recordings showcase Sanctuary's ability to blend traditional heavy metal with more complex arrangements that would later evolve into their signature sound. Songs like "Battle Angels" and "I Am Insane" reveal the band's knack for crafting memorable hooks while maintaining the darker, more philosophical themes that set them apart from their contemporaries. The inclusion of their haunting cover of Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" shows their willingness to experiment and push boundaries even in these early stages.

For fans of:
Nevermore, Queensrÿche, Metal Church, and Crimson Glory
