Background information about 'All the Shadows'
Cirith Ungol are back, and "All the Shadows" lands like a hammer wrapped in velvet. The Ventura legends have always walked their own crooked path between doom, epic metal and pure old-school steel, and this record is the culmination of that stubborn, glorious vision. Engineered, mixed and mastered by Armand John Anthony, who also handles guitar duties, it sounds massive yet warm, every riff given room to breathe and every cymbal allowed to ring out into the dark.
Tim Baker remains one of the most distinctive voices in metal, a cracked, theatrical howl that can turn tender on a dime and then tear the roof off. Just listen to how "This Mortal Stain" grinds forward, or how "Empty Tomb" builds its dread with patience rather than speed. Robert Garven's drumming still swings with that unmistakable loose-limbed groove, and Jarvis Leatherby's bass anchors it all with real weight. Add Michael Whelan's cover art and you have a package that feels like a lost classic from 1984 while sounding completely alive right now. Eight tracks, zero filler, and a band clearly enjoying every second of it.
