Background information about 'All the Shadows'

Cirith Ungol never really left. They just waited in the dark, sharpening their blades, and "All the Shadows" is the sound of a band that knows exactly who they are and refuses to apologize for it. Tim Baker's voice remains a force of nature — part banshee wail, part doom-laden prophet — and he rides these eight tracks like a man possessed, while the guitars of Armand John Anthony lay down riffs thick enough to cut with a sword. Engineered, mixed and mastered by Anthony and produced by the band together with him, the record has a warm, live-wire feel that keeps every cymbal crash and bass rumble right in your face. Jarvis Leatherby's bass and Robert Garven's drumming lock into a groove that is pure, unrepentant traditional metal, the kind that made this Ventura outfit legends in the first place.

What makes "All the Shadows" so satisfying is how effortless it all sounds. Nothing here feels like a nostalgia exercise or a calculated comeback — it is simply Cirith Ungol doing what they have always done, with the confidence of players who have nothing left to prove. The songs breathe, the dynamics shift from crushing heaviness to almost eerie quiet, and Michael Whelan's cover art wraps the whole thing in the kind of fantasy grandeur that used to make us stare at record sleeves for hours. It is a record that rewards repeated spins, revealing new details in the arrangements each time you drop the needle or hit play.
