Background information about 'Rotting'
Brazilian death metal legends Sarcofago unleashed one of the most devastating albums in all of metal with "Rotting", their ferocious second release that stands as a masterwork of agnostic brutality. This album captures the band at their most uncompromising, delivering tracks like "Sex, Drinks, and Metal" and "Nightmare" that have become anthems in the extreme metal underground. The raw aggression and unfiltered intensity found throughout "Rotting" perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Brazilian metal's golden era, when bands weren't afraid to push boundaries and challenge conventions.
What makes "Rotting" so essential is its perfect balance of chaos and craft - while maintaining the primitive savagery that made Sarcofago infamous, the album showcases a more refined songwriting approach that elevated them beyond their peers. The production captures every ounce of venom while allowing the intricate guitar work and thunderous rhythm section to shine through. This reissue brings new life to these classic tracks, making this indispensable release more accessible to both longtime devotees and newcomers to Brazilian extreme metal.
