Background information about 'The Nocturnes Of Iswylm'
Stormkeep return with their second full-length The Nocturnes Of Iswylm, and holy hell, this is a journey into the deepest, most enchanting corners of black metal. The US quartet, who already turned heads with their debut Galdrum, have outdone themselves. This isn't just an album — it's a full-blown fantasy epic translated into sound, complete with shimmering melodies, blastbeats that hit like a war charge, and an atmosphere so thick you could cut it with a sword.
The record flows like a nocturnal odyssey through enchanted forests and forgotten catacombs. From the opening gallop of the title track to the majestic, almost melancholic closer, Stormkeep weave together the raw aggression of classic Scandinavian black metal with the grandiose, melodic sensibilities of bands like Dissection and Emperor. The production is a perfect balance — raw enough to keep the fire burning, but clear enough to let every intricate guitar harmony and symphonic flourish shine through. The rhythm section is relentless, the vocals are a venomous shriek that commands attention, and the songwriting is nothing short of ambitious. This is black metal that dares to dream big and pulls it off with style.
