Background information about 'Terror Management Theory'

When a record opens with a track called "TMT" and then spends the next fifty minutes dismantling everything you thought you knew about modern progressive metal, you sit up and pay attention. Temic — the brainchild of guitarist and composer Eric Gillette, joined by drummer Simen Sandnes and bassist Jacob Umansky — have built "Terror Management Theory" like a cathedral of riffs: towering, intricate, and absolutely unafraid of the dark. This is the kind of album that rewards headphones, repeat listens, and a healthy appetite for the unexpected.

What makes this debut so thrilling is how effortlessly it moves between moods. "Through the Sands of Time" surges forward on a wave of syncopated grooves, while "Skeletons" strips things back to something almost haunting before the bottom drops out. "Acts of Violence" and "Friendly Fire" hit with a ferocity that will delight anyone who likes their prog served with a side of genuine heaviness, and by the time "Mothallah" closes the record, you realize you have just been taken on a proper journey — not a collection of songs, but a statement. The musicianship is staggering without ever feeling like a show-off exercise; every technical flourish serves the song, and every song serves the bigger picture.
