Background information about 'The Devil And The Almighty Blues'
Sometimes a debut album hits you right in the gut, and that's exactly what The Devil And The Almighty Blues delivered back when they first emerged from the Norwegian underground. This self-titled monster is a slow-burning, fuzzed-out masterclass in heavy blues — think the swagger of early Black Sabbath filtered through a Southern fried lens, but with that unmistakable Nordic melancholy creeping through the cracks.
From the opening riff of The Devil And The Almighty Blues, the band sets a tone that's equal parts menacing and soulful. The rhythm section locks into a hypnotic groove while the guitars weep and wail like old friends trading stories over whiskey. There's no rush here — every track breathes, stretches out, and takes its sweet time to build into towering walls of distortion and feedback. The vocals are raw, weathered, and full of conviction, like a preacher at the end of the world. This is music for late nights, for staring into the void, for feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders and somehow finding beauty in it.
