Background information about 'Scars'

"Scars" is the debut album from The Resistance, a supergroup born from the very heart of the Swedish metal scene. Formed by ex-In Flames guitarist Jesper Strömblad alongside In Flames guitarist Glenn Ljungström, ex-The Haunted vocalist Marco Aro and ex-Grave & Kaamos drummer Chris Barkensjö, this band carries serious pedigree on every level. And it shows. From the opening salvo of "Clearing The Slate" through the crushing closer "(I Will) Die Alone", the record is a relentless exercise in modern melodic death metal that hits hard and stays memorable.

The songwriting here is tight, aggressive and surprisingly hook-driven. Tracks like "Your Demise" and "Expand Or Expire" blend razor-sharp riffing with a groove that keeps your head moving, while "The Serpent King" and "Eye For An Eye" showcase the band's darker, more atmospheric side. Marco Aro's vocals are ferocious and commanding throughout, anchoring every track with authority. Jesper Strömblad's guitar work is unmistakable — those melodic leads and harmonies that made In Flames legendary are all over this record, giving it an instantly recognizable character. The production is crisp and modern, letting every instrument breathe while keeping the overall punch intact. "Scars" is a statement of intent from a group of musicians who clearly have nothing left to prove — and that freedom translates into some of the most confident metal you will hear from this era.
