Background information about 'Fragile Immortality'

There is a moment about halfway through "Fragile Immortality" where the guitars lock into a groove so tight and so mean that you forget to breathe for a second. That is what The Unguided do best: they take the melodic death metal blueprint and bend it until it screams, then hand it back to you with a grin. The Swedish outfit, born from the ashes of Sonic Syndicate, have never sounded this confident. Opener "Inception" sets the tone with razor-wire riffing and a chorus that lodges itself somewhere behind your ribs, and from there the record refuses to let up. "Defector DCXVI" and "Granted" pile on the hooks without ever sacrificing the bite, while "Eye Of The Thylacine" and "Carnal Genesis" show a band that knows exactly how to balance brutality with melody.

What makes this album such a thrill is the sheer craft on display. The production is crisp and modern, letting every synth line and every twin-guitar harmony breathe, and the vocal trade-offs between clean and harsh deliveries keep you on your toes from start to finish. Then there is the guest spot: Hansi Kürsch of Blind Guardian lending his unmistakable voice to "Deathwalker" is the kind of moment that makes a metal fan sit up straight. The bonus material here is no afterthought either — the Zardonic remixes drag the band into industrial-tinged territory and the closing "When All The Seraphim Cry" is a genuine curveball worth sticking around for.
