Background information about 'I Am Woman'
When Tragedy decided to tackle some of the most iconic anthems from the disco and pop universe, they weren't just covering songs - they were transforming them into something completely unexpected and utterly brilliant. "I Am Woman" showcases the band's incredible ability to take beloved classics like "Le Freak", "I Will Survive", and "Flashdance... What a Feeling" and filter them through their distinctive heavy metal lens. The result is an album that's both nostalgic and revolutionary, paying homage to these timeless tracks while giving them a completely fresh identity.
What makes this collection so compelling is how Tragedy manages to maintain the infectious energy and memorable hooks of the originals while adding layers of crushing guitars and thunderous drums. Tracks like "Venus" and "She Bop" become anthemic metal monsters, while collaborations with Mrs. Smith on "Memory" and Marcy Harriell on "Respect" add extra depth and vocal power to the proceedings. The band's interpretation of Katy Perry's "Roar" alongside classics like "I Am Woman" proves that great songs transcend genres and decades.
