Background information about 'Ancient Throne Of Unholy Ingria'
Russian black metal veterans Ulvdalir have crafted something truly special with "Ancient Throne Of Unholy Ingria", an album that stands as a testament to the enduring power of traditional black metal. Originally released on CD in 2023, this masterpiece now receives the vinyl treatment it richly deserves, allowing fans to experience these eight tracks of pure black metal worship in all their analog glory. Main-man I.K. Winterheart has poured nearly two decades of experience into this 45-minute journey through the frozen landscapes of Russian black metal.
What sets this release apart isn't just its unwavering dedication to the classic black metal sound – it's the way Ulvdalir breathes new life into familiar territory. The riff-driven compositions oscillate between mid and fast tempos with a production that's clean enough to let every detail shine through without sacrificing that essential raw edge. The vocals deserve special recognition here: delivered entirely in Russian despite the English song titles, I.K. Winterheart's unusually grim and ferocious approach trades typical high-pitched screams for a low, raspy tone that cuts through the mix like a blade through winter air.
