Background information about 'Firewood'
Witchcraft's "Firewood" stands as a monumental testament to the band's ability to merge the vintage essence of 70s rock with the haunting depths of doom metal. This reissue invites listeners into a world where raw emotion and intricate musicianship coalesce seamlessly. The album opens with "Chylde Of Fire," a track that sets the tone with its fiery riffs and commanding vocals by Magnus Pelander. Throughout the album, tracks like "If Wishes Were Horses" and "Mr Haze" showcase Witchcraft's deft ability to weave storytelling into their compositions.
The sonic journey continues with pieces like "Wooden Cross (I Can't Wake The Dead)" which blend eerie atmospheres with potent musical arrangements. As one traverses through the album, moments of introspection are offered in tracks such as "Merlin's Daughter," while epic compositions like "Attention!" pull listeners into a trance-like state with its progressive twists and turns. With contributions from artists such as Will Summers on flute adding layers of texture to tracks like "Sorrow Evoker," this album is both a homage to classic rock influences and a bold statement in contemporary heavy music.
