WOLVESPIRIT · Blue Eyes | DIGISLEEVE CD

CD in gatefold mini LP sleeve.

Background information about 'Blue Eyes'

"Blue Eyes" is the sound of a band that refuses to choose between the garage and the cosmos. Wolvespirit cut this one at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville with producer Andrija Tokic, and you can hear the room breathing all over it — warm tape hiss, guitars that crunch and swirl in equal measure, and a rhythm section that keeps things greasy and grounded even when the songs start reaching for the stratosphere. It is classic rock in the truest sense: not a nostalgia exercise, but a living, sweaty thing built on riffs, Hammond haze and a whole lot of attitude.

The opening run is a knockout. "You Know That I`m Evil" swaggers in like it owns the joint, "I Am What I Am" plants its flag, and "I Want To Love" is the kind of hook that lodges itself somewhere behind your ribs and stays there. Then comes the title track, and it earns its place at the centre of the record — slow-burning, bluesy, drenched in that hazy psychedelic glow the band does so well. "Soul Burn" lives up to its name, "Space Rockin Woman" is pure rocket-fuel fun, and "Witchcraft" and "Dance With The Devil" close the whole thing out with a deliciously dark grin.

Two numbers here are bonus cuts — "Blue Eyes" and "Love Is All I Need" — which makes this edition the one to grab if you want the full picture. It is heavy without being grim, trippy without being self-indulgent, and it swings hard from start to finish. Crank it up and let the fuzz do the talking.
