Background information about 'Engrained'
There are albums that merely fill the space between your speakers, and then there are records like "Engrained" — the kind that grabs you by the throat from the first riff and doesn't let go until the needle lifts. WOUND, the German death metal force, have crafted a monstrous sophomore full-length that feels both timeless and devastatingly fresh.
From the opening chaos of "I Am Havoc" to the sprawling, multi-part closer "Engrained I,II & III," this album is a relentless journey through the darker corners of death metal. The band masterfully weaves together razor-sharp riffing, thunderous blast beats, and guttural vocals that sound like they're being ripped from the earth's core. What sets "Engrained" apart is its dynamic range — moments of pure, unadulterated brutality sit comfortably next to eerie, atmospheric passages that give the whole thing a cinematic weight. The production is raw enough to keep the underground credibility intact, yet polished enough to let every sick riff and pummeling drum fill land with maximum impact. This is death metal played with conviction, anger, and an almost frightening level of precision.
