Background information about 'Kostogher (Re-release)'

Kostogher is the sound of a man deliberately torching his own blueprint. Two years after Fran marder introduced the world to Arckanum, sole architect Shamaatae came back with something far nastier — and Darkness Shall Rise has finally given it the vinyl treatment it always deserved, remastered from the original recordings by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony.

Where the debut was comparatively clean, Kostogher rolls around in the mud. The guitars are filthy, the drums hit like falling timber, and Shamaatae's ancient Swedish lyrics snarl and spit in a register that feels less sung than summoned. It is the most primal thing in the Arckanum catalogue, and that is precisely the point: raw, mean, unhinged, and utterly convinced of its own anti-cosmic mission. The whole record wears its contempt on its sleeve, and thirty years on it still sounds like nothing else in the Swedish scene — a ritual rather than a riff collection.

This second pressing arrives as a double LP in a gatefold sleeve with UV-varnish on the cover and an etched D-side, plus a hefty 20-page 12" booklet featuring part three of an in-depth Shamaatae interview and plenty of previously unseen photographs. An A2 poster is thrown in for good measure, and the whole run is capped at 500 copies.
