Background information about 'Kostogher (Re-Release)'

Some records don't just get released — they get unleashed, and "Kostogher" is exactly that kind of beast. Two years after "Fran marder" had already rattled the underground, Arckanum mastermind Shamaatae came back meaner, dirtier and considerably more unhinged. Where the debut still carried a certain studio polish, this second full-length rolls around in the mud and loves every second of it. The riffs are jagged, the atmosphere is thick as tar, and the whole thing sounds like it was conjured in a cold cellar rather than recorded in a proper room. It's raw, it's primal, and it might just be the most feral thing to ever bear the Arckanum name.

What makes Arckanum so special isn't just the noise — it's the world-building. Shamaatae handled the covers, the calligraphy, the drawings and the lyrics written in ancient Swedish himself, turning each release into a self-contained antikosmos rather than a mere collection of songs. That singular vision is all over "Kostogher", and it's why these early works still feel untouchable decades later. This reissue has been remastered for vinyl from the original recordings by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony, so the filth comes through with proper clarity — every ugly, glorious detail intact. If you only know the later, more experimental Arckanum records, do yourself a favour and go back to where the darkness was still dripping wet.
