Background information about 'I Am'
Sweden's Armagedda have always operated in the shadows, and "I Am" is exactly where they want you to be. This mini album is a cold, razor-sharp statement from a band that has never cared for trends or compromise. The four tracks on here waste absolutely no time getting to the point, delivering that signature Scandinavian black metal bite with a production that feels raw without ever becoming sloppy.
"Den Skrivna Eskatologin" opens the proceedings with a sense of grim purpose, all tremolo-picked urgency and drums that hit like a sledgehammer in a frozen forest. "De Vanhelgade" keeps the momentum rolling with a mid-paced menace that shows the band's knack for writing riffs that stick in your skull long after the record stops spinning. The title track "I Am" is the centerpiece, a cold anthem of self-assertion that builds and burns with genuine intensity. Closer "Cold Eon" lives up to its name, dragging the listener through barren sonic landscapes that feel ancient and unforgiving.
This is black metal for those who like their music stripped of all pretense, played by people who mean every single note. Armagedda deliver a concise, no-filler statement that fits perfectly into the Eisenwald catalog of uncompromising underground releases.
