Background information about 'Völd'

This Faroese black metal outfit delivers a stunning sonic journey through Nordic darkness with their latest offering. Nyrst crafts an atmospheric yet brutal soundscape that channels the raw power of their island homeland's harsh winters and unforgiving seas. The album showcases the band's ability to weave traditional Faroese elements into crushing black metal, creating something that feels both ancient and urgently modern. Each track builds upon themes of isolation, nature's dominance, and the mystical aspects of Nordic folklore, delivered through blistering tremolo-picked melodies and thunderous percussion.

The production strikes that perfect balance between clarity and rawness that modern black metal demands. Songs like "Hrímvíti" and "Eilíft eldhaf" demonstrate the band's mastery of dynamics, shifting from whispered atmospheric passages to full-throttle assaults that'll leave your speakers begging for mercy. The use of their native Faroese language adds an authentic layer of mysticism that English simply couldn't capture, making this album feel like a genuine cultural artifact rather than just another black metal release.

For fans of: Windir, Moonsorrow, Enslaved, and Primordial
