Background information about 'Ekbom'

This is what happens when French brutality meets psychological horror and the result is absolutely devastating!"Ekbom" takes its name from the rare neurological disorder known as Ekbom syndrome, where individuals have a persistent belief of being infested with insects and bugs right under their skin. Benighted have crafted something genuinely unsettling here -a nightmarish album that drags listeners through the darkest recesses of the human psyche, where the band's mastery of visceral soundscapes and thematically rich compositions culminate in a chilling sonic landscape.Ten albums in, they're still as capable as ever when it comes to delivering speeding savagery and hateful heaviness, blending eccentric grindcore with uncompromising death metal. At thirty-six minutes, this thing flies by like it's nothing and it's way heavier and faster than you might have expected from previous Benighted albums. The band seems to be in competition with themselves - by the time they get to "Nothing Left to Fear," they've lost their damn minds with ludicrously speedy, scribbling riffs darting over monstrous gravity blasts. The track features Oliver Rae Aleron from Archspire on guest vocals, who acts as a rhythmic weapon focusing heavily on speedy technicality with a penchant for hooks. It's a masterful execution of the deathgrind genre that easily makes it a strong contender for album of the year.
