Background information about 'Bombus'

There are albums that hit like a fist to the chest, and then there's the self-titled debut from Bombus — a record so raw and feral it practically growls out of the speakers. Originally unleashed in 2010 via Mourningwood Recordings, this Swedish wrecking ball of a record sold out within weeks and has been damn near impossible to track down ever since. Now, finally, it's back, remastered and reborn through Black Lodge Records, and it burns brighter than ever.

From the opening crunch of "Biblical" — that bold, swaggering detour that became a longtime fan favorite — you know you're in for something special. Bombus deal in the kind of uncompromising, gut-level heavy metal that doesn't ask politely. Tracks like "Outsider", "Hairy Teeth", and "Raised By Pigs" are pure, unapologetic Scandinavian muscle, all grit and groove and gasoline. This is the sound of a band that arrived fully formed, staking their claim in a scene that would soon learn their name. Little wonder Fenriz of Darkthrone crowned them "Band of the Week" back then.

The remaster by Magnus Lindberg of Redmount Studios — the man behind The Hellacopters, Cult of Luna, Refused, and Alcest — gives these songs a new clarity and punch without sanding off a single rough edge. Since this debut, Bombus have grown into one of the most formidable forces in Scandinavian rock, following up with The Poet and the Parrot, Repeat Until Death, Vulture Culture, and Your Blood. But this is where it all began, and it still hits like revelation.
