Bang, boom, BONGINATOR! These American death metal maniacs have unleashed something truly spectacular with their sophomore effort "Retrodeath". This isn't just another stoner metal album - it's the birth of an entirely new sound that brilliantly merges traditional US death metal with synthwave and 16-bit computer game sounds. The Massachusetts-based quartet spent months diving deep into '80s action flicks, horror movies and classic video games, then painstakingly researched and emulated the exact synthesizers used in those iconic soundtracks. What emerged is a gleefully unhinged sonic monster that feels both nostalgic and completely fresh.

When vocalist and guitarist Erik Thorstenn founded BONGINATOR in 2021, he wasn't trying to compete with established acts like CANNABIS CORPSE or WEEDEATER. Instead, the band carved out their own bizarre musical territory, creating a conceptual world where stoner kids battle blood-thirsty aliens before embarking on intergalactic road trips through the universe's darkest corners. "Retrodeath" takes this vision to its logical extreme, stitching together elements that shouldn't work but somehow make perfect sense. It's full weed ahead into uncharted musical territory that's equal parts brutal and beautiful.
