Background information about 'Runaljod - Ragnarok'
Wardruna returns with their evocative third installment in the 'Runaljod' series, a project that has consistently drawn from the rich tapestry of Norse history and mythology. 'Runaljod - Ragnarok' is no exception, offering a mesmerizing auditory journey through ancient melodies and rhythms that capture the essence of its namesake: the end times in Norse mythos. The album is a masterful fusion of traditional instruments and modern soundscapes, creating an atmosphere that is both timeless and haunting.
This release showcases a deep commitment to authenticity with tracks recorded in various outdoor locations across Norway, capturing the raw beauty and mystique of the landscapes. From the chilling ice percussion on 'Isa', recorded amidst Geilo's icy terrain, to the harmonious vocals that weave through each track like an ancestral hymn, Einar Selvik continues to push boundaries while honoring tradition. 'Runaljod - Ragnarok' stands as a testament to Wardruna's dedication to preserving cultural heritage through music.
