Background information about 'Heartwork'

Carcass' 'Heartwork' stands as a monumental pillar within the death metal genre, marking a pivotal moment in the band's discography. Released originally in 1993, this album showcases the band's evolution from raw grindcore to a more refined melodic death metal sound. The combination of intricate guitar work by Bill Steer and Michael Amott, coupled with Jeff Walker's distinctive growls and Ken Owen's relentless drumming, creates a sonic landscape that is both aggressive and hauntingly beautiful.

Each track on 'Heartwork' is meticulously crafted to balance ferocity with melody. From the opening riffs of "Buried Dreams" to the anthemic title track "Heartwork," the album maintains a relentless energy while exploring themes of existentialism and societal decay. The artwork by H.R. Giger adds an additional layer of depth, perfectly encapsulating the album's dark yet artistic essence.
