Background information about 'Feed the Vault'
Feed the Vault is the sound of a band tearing down the walls it built for itself. Carnal Ghoul started as a meeting of two old-school obsessives — guitarist Daniel Jakobi (Lay Down Rotten, Milking the Goatmachine, Demonbreed) and drummer Stefan "Husky" Hüskens (Desaster, Sodom, Asphyx) — and their second album shows what happens when that shared love of Swedish-style death metal gets pushed to its absolute limit. Where the debut carried the weight of loss and sorrow, this one carries the weight of a sledgehammer. The songwriting is sharper, the production is meatier, and the whole thing lands like a boot to the chest.
And then there is the voice. With Endseeker frontman Lennart "Lenny" Osterhus joining permanently, the band found the last piece of the puzzle — a throat that can growl, bark and sneer through "No Mercy for the Weak" and "Lovely Fucking Day" without ever losing control. Tracks like "Rise of the Deaf" and "The Organist" show a band that knows exactly how to swing a brutal hook, and the title cut closes things out with a sense of grim ceremony. Furious, filthy and weirdly catchy in all the right places — this is death metal made by people who still get goosebumps from a good riff.
