Holy shit, what a trip!Cannabis Corpse was formed by Municipal Waste bassist "LandPhil" Hall and his brother Josh "Hallhammer" Hall out of a mutual love of brutal Floridian death metal and weed. The band's earliest recordings are primal homages to their influences; where relentless, jackhammer beats and sick, guttural vocals lay the foundation for twisted tales of crazed weed mayhem.But don't let the stoner parody fool you - this is some seriously crushing death metal that'll leave you gasping for air (and maybe reaching for your stash).While this does indeed draw much influence from early Cannibal Corpse, this is much more than a shitty imitator. The riffs are very intricate with almost always something interesting going on with the guitars, and there is very little of that simplistic chug-chug bullshit.Tracks like "I Cum Bud" and "Force Fed Shitty Grass" might sound ridiculous on paper, but they pack a serious punch.This first entry to their discography is as staggeringly guttural as Cannibal Corpse was during Chris Barnes days. The vocals of Andy "Weedgrinder" are shockingly similar to those of Chris Barnes.The production might be raw as hell (recorded on a Boss BR digital 4-track!), but that just adds to the underground charm.
